hhdesigns Posted July 2, 2004 Report Share Posted July 2, 2004 These debates are endless, so let's start one here...I decided this would be a good place because I really want to get an insight into why you dislike the Mac OS so much and maybe I can tell you why I'm not content with the Windows OS.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Lets start:The new Releases:- Powermac G5 @ 2.5 Dual and 1.25 GB Frontside Bus- 30" Flatscreen dislpay, yes, 2560x1600...- And in the first half of 2005 (one year before Longhorn) ... Chris Posted July 2, 2004 Report Share Posted July 2, 2004 They are way over priced for the UK market...That 30" Requires a Geforce 6800 at about 400 quid.Considering apple have released what 4 operating system revisions in the last 3 years? :lol:Longhorn is well, a few years away yet.... a comparison of tiger and longhorn now is somewhat faulted. From my own point of view, I want a computer that works and does the things I request of it. It so happens that the Windows operating system does that and so I am happy about that and use Windows. My son has a successful graphics arts business and employs 10 artists. His artists are free to use whichever system they are familiar with but, only one of them uses a MAC machine.I build the machines for my son's business (not the MAC) and for others as well. One of the big mistakes in my opinion is that, whereas Bill Gates worked on the then new IBM Personal Computer and developed his operating system to suit that, Steve Jobs had a severe lack of foresight in his computer system by taking the concept of the IBM machine but then making it "closed" and inaccessible for modification/self build (or even independent commercial build)/ improvement. I recall that it was the idea of IBM to make their Personal Computer adaptable and versatile but, very importantly, not invalidate guarantees by opening the case.Another important point is that, as Windows is a much more popular of the two systems, software developers have concentrated their efforts into Windows, naturally at the expense of MAC, resulting in a much wider range of software available. Of course, that is not to say that this software is any better than MAC software or, even any good at all, it's just available in a much wider range.Remember also that bigger or faster doesn't equate with better. I've used windows almost my whole life, (born around the same time as windows) and I've had no reason to switch. Infact I have made a living from a bunch of code thrown together to make what we use today as our primary operating system (at least 70% of us :)). Even though I DO NOT like bill gates, and I disagree with his business ethics, he is making a lot of money, and as long as he keeps making programs and new versions of windows, and I keep learning them, I'm going to be making money as well, and who can complain about that?P.S.
