-pops- Posted July 5, 2004 Report Share Posted July 5, 2004 This morning my firewall asked about the above program asking to connect to 224.0.0.22.I refused the permission and tried to find out what this thing did. Information is not very forthcoming. Help & Support had nothing and one of the few things Google came up with was "Csrss.exe: The Client Server Runtime Subsystem process, also known as the Win32 subsystem, generates a worker thread for client requests. " which doesn't explain why it's trying to connect to the net and means next to nothing to meAlso 224.0.0.22 is, according to Whois, unallocated.Can anyone enlighten me, please? I have rebooted a couple of times today (been doing some installations) and the request hasn't re-appeared so I'm wondering if it's another of those one-off things. Usually they pop up several times before you can blink. :DJust to be safe, try a virus scan from safe mode..or use a DOS virus scanner. here is the link to one, and here is the info for it. :D Not as great as some windows virus programs, but may catch something they can't? -pops- Posted July 5, 2004 Author Report Share Posted July 5, 2004 I'm not persuaded yet that it is a virus. I can't find any reference to it being a virus or anything other than an inconvenience. It is a bit odd that it hasn't come back and if it appears again, I will look more closely into it.Thanks for the f-prot link. I'll use that if it comes back.
