One of the front pages this am ( Mirror? ) was all about the BNP.Well the stories are coming thick and fast ....massive rate rises over the next few years in the south east ......the increasing crime rate is due to Andsome ,pops , Doug,and my parents inability to bring up their kids in the "liberal 60's " ......(my arse.....!) The other is a consultant gynaecologist who spends a lot of his time looking after and treating the results of the current wayward lifestyles. andsome Posted July 20, 2004 Report Share Posted July 20, 2004 I really do think that some of the blame for crime etc now does lie with bad parenting, bad government, woolly haired thinking and sundry other reasons all combined. Some of us brought our kids up to respect other people, and authority. Some unfortunately did not, and with slowly increasing wealth it was easier for some folk just to give way to their kids wishes rather than say NO. We hear all this nonsense about peer pressure, and parents wail on about how it is so difficult to afford the latest mobile phone or the latest £50 football supporters replica shirt. They don't have the moral fibre to say NO. My son has grown up to be a responsible member of society, because he was encouraged to do so. He has his own company and hires himself out as a business consultant to other firms, he earns over £2000 per week. My daughter has two kids of her own, and was a fund raiser for Oxfam, dealing with large corporate clients. She is now a fully qualified yoga teacher. One of the major causes of crime now is of course the nanny state. Don't discipline little Johny, don't say no. don't shout at him, give him everything that you did not have. Let's make prison more comfortable, and don't send people there for more than a few months even if they kill someone. Kids wail on about having nothing to do, so they wreck other peoples property. No one found us things to do. The war had just ended and there was no money to spare. we made our own pleasures, and were happy to get down the park and kick a ball about. We did not need to wreck the park when we got there. Churches were left open, without being vandalised. It is possible to go on and on. The basic fact is that we have the society that has been created for us by the majority of spineless morons, nanny state, lax laws, leniency toward the criminal, and politicians without the will to do anything about it, except throw money about. We start to develop this/these in infancy in the home, without instruction, but just through being in an environment and absorbing it and its various nouances, the love or otherwise of parents, the way our parent treat others, the politeness of our parents to each other and others, the bonding between siblings etc etc and also the extranious external influences that are allowed to leak in. Everything absorbed at home is normal, simply because we know nothing else. Unfortunately over the last half century the box in the corner has changed from the radio, that filled our houses with mainly pleasant music and laughter, interspersed with the odd news bulletin, to a nast snarling screen showing death and destruction in close up detail, vivid colour and sound, "reality" programmes that are really artificial, and owe much to the warped minds of their producers, endless "make over programmes that strengthen the feeling of inferiority and adverts that sap the will to live, etc etc! This change came, gradually generation by generation, but as it did so the sense of normality within the young minds absorbing it was gradually changed. They unknowingly accepted a normality that was very different to their parents, but which contained a large quantity of the normality of their peers and thus the stage was set for the "lower morality" etc of the next generation. It was not aided by the constant increase in the one parent, childless, lesbian, greenpeace, vegan, do-good seekers of OBEs who spawned PC and the nanny state. This changing normality also explains the change in attitude to, and of, our politicians. At one stage Jeremy Thorpe had to resign because of his sexuality where as Peter Mandelthing virtually got an OBE for his. Look at the hue and cry about the Christine Keeler affair (who?) and the standing ovation that Clinton received!Yes I do, don't I I may have to apply for the Chiltern Hundreds. The problem with Keeler was that she had a Russian (read KGB) "diplomat " on the side .......The west and the Russkies did have a M.A.D. policy at the time .... total paranoia .....possibly justified ...? Thorpe had to run as sodomy had only just been made legal ...If I remember rightly .....still bit of a stiff one to take for those liberal ladies in the chintz ...! Took the liberals a decade to get back to where they were , as they "blew" it with the blue rinse crowd .....So its now TV as the cause for social decline ... the Romans managed it without even a radio ........?Maybe here is a natural life cycle .....like ageing.....! As you say the Romans managed it without, but it took them a lot longer than the sixty or seventy years we are considering! I would, however, say that TV has been a great and rapid disseminator of false values and distorted morality. I suppose, before TV, it was all down to moving pictures at the Odean and the BBC home service, but that was a fairly slow way of becoming dissolute. We've certainly jazzed it up since then!! TV is only one of the influences, but in my opinion it is a big one (well the advertisers think so). OK normality gets modified very slightly in the growing up years (for example, I do not now suck my thumb, or lay on my back and scream when a big bad man like andsome comes and makes faces at me) but much of the original is far too ingrained to be erased completely.
