lost and confused Posted July 31, 2004 Report Share Posted July 31, 2004 ok, i have windows xp home edition, but then it decided to change to the xp pro edition. 2 days afterwards, i tried running an emulation using daemon tools and accidentally mounted an image inside of one that i had previously mounted, and my comp froze, so then i had to hard crash it, but then i couldnt turn my comp back on, so i did a sys restore from the boot-up dos thing (to the last known good configuration) and it turned on, but the display is permanently at 800x600 and 4 bit color, its a bit depressing, yo, anywaysi cant do another sys restore, whenever i try, it says that my system couldnt be restore...... my guess is that its because my comp thinks iits xp pro, but the restore point says that then, the comp was xp home, and some compatibility issue might make it unable to change any settings :blink: yeah, and my moniter and drivers are all up-to-date and installed, so that isnt the reason.... if you have anythign that could help plz help! summer is slowly slipping away Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
trackrat Posted July 31, 2004 Report Share Posted July 31, 2004 From what you are saying First you had XP home then you installed the Pro version(was it a clean install or over the top of XP home ) then you added an emulator that overides copy protection and your computer crashed.Have you had a look at the Boot ini file to see what entries are in their, it should look like the attached image.
