Additionally have a look at the operational ideals of the newly inaugerated British Muslim bank which is to be operated on strict Sharia rules. If there were no inflation and no state pension then each person would have to save for their pension. If there were no inflation there could be no interest on savings and therefore the amount saved would have to be the actual amount needed for retirement. Assuming a working lifetime of 45 years and an expected retirement period of 15 years then the amount saved would need to be 25 percent of net income i.e. after tax and NHS* contributions were deducted (* not NI which currently allegedly includes state pension contribution)Obviously, as promotion would increased wage/salary, so the amount saved would needed to be varied depending on the quality of life that was expected during retirement . This projection would be considerably easier than at present because there would be no inflation to take into consideration.Now we come to the interesting bit. Would you rather not be able to buy a house because they are too expensive, due to inflation which is eventually going to provide you with some sort of pension (if you last out the course)? On the up side - I went to Tesco and got 'two for one' :) I need reading specs and middle distance specs for the tv.
