bvw
I've tried it.....won't work.Removed AVG.Went to AVG and downloaded it again.........still will not work in safe mode :(
Scarecrow Man
It can't run in safe mode, because it loads special drivers when windows loads. If they don't load, like in safe mode, it can't work.I've heard of, but not seen, a set of floppy disks, which boot you to ms-dos and run avg in dos instead. christmascracker
I've run AVG in safe mode  AVG7 if that makes any difference. There is a post on here when Djohn had a query about avgs test results but it was definately ran in safe mode.I've just tried it again to be sure and it ran ok in safe mode
trackrat
So it looks like the free version does not work in safe mode but the paid for version does strange.
bvw
http://www.grisoft.com/faq/us_faqtext.php?...id_lang=2&sid=3Looks complicated, assuming it works.....not tried it. Tried booting from the newly created floppies, wouldn't boot from them either. :(
nellie2
If you want to run a virus scan in safe mode, then (assuming you have XP) when booting into safe mode choose the 'safe mode with network conection' option. You will then be able to connect to the internet and will be able to run an online scan.
