brandyAJ
I have tried to install SP2 and twice it has restarted my computer and just loops(starts to come up and then restarts). I have had to reinstall XP and now my computer acts funny ie. slower, doesn't scroll smoothly. I made sure there were no viruses or spyware or adware, all of the extra programs it said would conflict, I took off. What is going on? andsome
This is no help to you of course. I am puzzled why an update of drivers is OFTEN suggested as a solution to a problem. Surely if the drivers are running a program or component OK today, they should also do so tomorrow, or have I missed something?
bluesman821
I too tried installing SP2 and the same thing occured.I had to use True Image Recovery. I would be interested in any solution to this as I would like to install SP2.
artist
I read through the SP2 forum on PCA and in a nutshell this is what I did:I had already done a virus scan the previous day.1. Run a spyware check2. Run disc clean up3. Make a restore point4. Disable - virus chechecker spyware checker firewall cookie cruncherthen close all running programmes.5. run the disc.Restart computerI'm using the MS firewall now.So far - all is fine. Would that be it?Always worth a try. This is no help to you of course. I am puzzled why an update of drivers is OFTEN suggested as a solution to a problem. Surely if the drivers are running a program or component OK today, they should also do so tomorrow, or have I missed something?Oh, it's possible.. Computers only do what they are told to do, but people tell them to do some pretty funny things if they aren't sure what thier doing.... :P
