I have tried to install SP2 and twice it has restarted my computer and just loops(starts to come up and then restarts). I have had to reinstall XP and now my computer acts funny ie. slower, doesn't scroll smoothly. I made sure there were no viruses or spyware or adware, all of the extra programs it said would conflict, I took off. What is going on?

This is no help to you of course. I am puzzled why an update of drivers is OFTEN suggested as a solution to a problem. Surely if the drivers are running a program or component OK today, they should also do so tomorrow, or have I missed something?

I read through the SP2 forum on PCA and in a nutshell this is what I did:

I had already done a virus scan the previous day.

1. Run a spyware check

2. Run disc clean up

3. Make a restore point

4. Disable - virus chechecker

spyware checker

firewall

cookie cruncher

then close all running programmes.

5. run the disc.

Restart computer

I'm using the MS firewall now.

So far - all is fine.

Actually, no I haven't. Would that be it?

Always worth a try.

Oh, it's possible.. Computers only do what they are told to do, but people tell them to do some pretty funny things if they aren't sure what thier doing.... :P
