107606 Posted September 19, 2004 Report Share Posted September 19, 2004 Following on from my previous posting, it has become apparent that I may need to reformat and reinstall Windows. So that anyone wishing to give advice knows everything...Firstly, I need to create a boot disk.Secondly, from a previous reformat, i seem to remeber that the driver for the CD ROM drive are not on the Win 98 CD, but are on my motherboard CD. I'm thinking that if I reformat my HD, and boot up with the newly made disk (above) I will not be able to run the Win 98 CD. How do i circumnavigate this problem?Finally, I hope you can help, as this is all in aid of getting my broadband connection back up and running (see my several other threads if you want to find out more about this ongoing problem).Thanks all! You wont lose it by formatting.If you don't have the mobo installation disc you can download CD ROM drivers when Windows is installed properly. Type C:\ press 'enter' then you'll have a C:\ prompt. Type 'Setup' and press 'Enter' No shutdowns necessary. Windows will load and do its own shutdowns automatically until the OS is correctly installed.At this point you'll become a Microsoft Slave and cease communication with the world at large. Good luck. :blink:If you've formatted you should have a C: Drive...Typing setup at a C: will do nothing as you have to access the CD-ROM which will have another drive letter.Type:D:Press Enter.Type: setup and it should spin the CD drive and Windows will take over.If you don't get anything from D: try E: and so on. Computers fine, broadband connection is up, so all of you thank you very much!One final thing... I'm trying to view web pages (londonstockexchange.com to be precise) and it wont display the graphs. It has a jigsaw piece over it saying click here to download plugin. I click it and it says no suitable plugins found... Where can i find these? I'm running XP.
