andsome
So Cheesy Bliar has gone into hospital for what is described as a MINOR operation. I would love to know the answer to one simple question. How long was he on the waiting list???? I know someone three people who all waited over twelve months for bye-pass operations, surely a wee bit more that minor. A close friend after examination was told to go home and take things VERY easy until he was sent for, for a replacement heart valve as well as other work on the heart. He was told that any undue exertion could kill him. He waited three months.

moon
Nicely timed to knock the American Presidential debate off the front pages. Can't have the masses thinking it might be important, what ? Also disguises getting his butt kicked in Hartlepool.
The Grump
Also disguises getting his butt kicked in Hartlepool.Labour still won. The official opposition candidate came fourth.I think it's the Tories who've had their butt kicked. It's now time for the Tory backers who got rid of IDS to boot out Howard.Even with all the disenchantment with the Labour government, the Tories do not look like they will ever be a viable threat. moon
:D I think getting 16,000 swiped off their majority is getting their butt kicked, Grump. As for the Tories, you're bang on. Did they think that nobody would notice IDS getting fitted up when £5million was on offer ? :D Roll on eDemocracy.
-pops-
Back to the original premise. My experience of cardiac treatment is somewhat different.Severe M.I. (heart attack) Thursday night -> intensive care within the hour -> second (very severe) M.I. (very common for this to happen) Sunday -> treatment within minutes bearing in mind that treatment for the second has to be different to the first because of potential hypersensitivity reactions. Transfer to St George's Hospital Tooting, Wednesday -> surgery (PCTA) on Thursday -> home on Friday. All done and dusted within the week. This kept me going for two and a half years all the while with the prospect of of the previous treatment failing - which it did gradually. At the first rumblings of a possible problem, I was booked in for a by pass which was done four days afterwards.

But my friends had not had an attack, and had to wait for months to see a specialist, in order to get onto a waiting list, and then many months before they could get the operation. Scarecrow Man
It all comes down to money. If you can pay for it, you'll get the best treatment, if not, you can wait in line.
moon
The Poms pay for it all their working lives, in fact, it gets taken out of their paypackets before they get them. They still have to wait in line.

moon
As I do, but I still get better advice, immediately, from my local pharmacist than I would sitting in a germ-laden waiting room for three hours. With two Beanos and a 1998 Lincolnshire Life to read. :DPS. Rejoice ! Tone is out and well already. We'd still be queueing to make an appointment. andsome
How can we be wingeing if we are quoting TRUE cases? Thousands of people have had to wait an inordinate time for treatment. Only recently, my wife who was due for a routine hospital appointment for her rheumatoid arthritis, had a sudden deterioration in her condition. She telephoned the hospital to see if her appointment could be brought forward. She was told NO, you have to get your doctor to write in. She did this and followed his letter up with another phone call. She was told that the letter had arrived, but she would still have to wait. She asked what the position would be if she paid. They said she could go on the next Tuesday. How can this be wingeing???My daughter moved to Shrewsbury at the beginning of the year. Our oldest granddaughter who was eight when they moved is having trouble with her teeth. My daughter was told by EVERY dentist that they were not taking on any more NHS patients, EVEN CHILDREN. This is despite Cheesy's assurances that EVERYONE has access to NHS dental treatment. She had to pay, WINGEING??????????????? You tell me we are wingeing???
