Pilch Posted October 24, 2004 Report Share Posted October 24, 2004 I have changed filters etc and even sworn at my phone line, but my net still randomly disconnect's.My router gives errors lile LCP No Response, Physical Line error and i was wondering what the problem is..Also I can hear a lot of crackling on the phone line, but when the net disonnect's, nothing... any idea's? -pops- Posted October 25, 2004 Report Share Posted October 25, 2004 Have you asked the line supplier (BT?) to test the line? There shouldn't be crackling there. Noise on the line indicates a fault and crackling indicates something like an intermittent short circuit - this will cause your router to drop out.A point to note about ADSL filters - this is a bit of a misnomer because the filter is on the analogue side of the connection to filter out the high frequency digital signal from the audio phone line. It turned out that the line wasn't OK because the overground cable rubbed against a tree - removing the insulation and in wet weather, the damp caused a short circuit. Pilch Posted December 8, 2004 Author Report Share Posted December 8, 2004 Ok... Net did go wrong again and this time i harrassed them.. new filters didnt do a thing so they got someone out. They where adamant that it was my equipment not filtering the signal.So A telephone engineer came out thought the problem laid at the exchange, got a Broadband engineer out and he wasnt sure. Tested the exchange and my equipment. Nothing. but still static on the line. So he went up the pole and reseated the wire into it....Hey Presto no static and internet...
