Understand that need to change every entry in Restricted Sites > Security Settings to Disable (or Prompt or High safety, if Disable is not an option for a particular entry).What should I check under Miscellaneous > Use Pop-up Blocker, Disable or Enable?Thanks. -pops- Posted October 31, 2004 Report Share Posted October 31, 2004 This is not a direct answer to your request but, because of the problems that Internet Explorer presents, many people are moving away from that browser and using something like Firefox (there are others). These alternatives do not have the same invasion vulnerabilities as IE and thus many of the facilities offered by IE/Spyad are not required.The IE alternatives have built-in pop-up removers, ad-blockers etc. and are, in the opinion of many, distinctly preferable to IE.I use Firefox as my normal everyday browser and have no problems with it at all. Many other Forum members use it as well. You can get it from click hereIt is wise not to abandon IE completely as some sites (notably Microsoft ones) do not operate in anything other than IE but, in my own case for instance, IE gets opened about once a month. Once this list of sites and domains is "merged" into your Registry, most marketers, advertisers, and crapware pushers on the Net will not be able to use cookies, ActiveX controls, Java applets, or scripting to compromise your privacy or your PC while you surf the Net. Nor will they be able to use your browser to push unwanted pop-ups, cookies, or auto-installing programs on you. Configure your Restricted sites zone.If you haven't already configured your Restricted sites zone for maximum security, then you should do so. Here's how to do it:1. Open Internet Explorer's "Internet Options" (off either the "View" or "Tools" menu bar option). Hit the "Security" tab. Select the "Restricted sites." Click the "Custom Level" button.2. Change every entry in the "Custom Level" settings box for "Restricted sites" to "Disable" (or "Prompt" or "High safety," if "Disable" is not an option for a particular entry).3. Close the "Custom Level" settings box by clicking "OK."4. Close the "Internet Options" box by clicking "OK."
