bvw
18 months ago I bought an I.T.Works 17" TFT from the local Comet, cost £300.Nice monitor but after a few months it developed a fault and was replaced, under the 3yr warranty. (Comet were not involved, I dealt directly with the manufacturer).Well last week the replacement monitor developed exactly the same fault :( Dug out my receipt again and the warranty booklet and once again phoned the manufacturer. That was last Friday and I expected the usual wait for the courier to arrive, I wish they'd phone to say they are on the way :) Anyway, on Monday the manufacturer phoned me and gave me an RMA number and said go to Comet and get a full refund :) Nice surprise that.Today I've been to Comet and after a little while (RMA is a Regional Managers Authority I think said one salesman  ) was refunded the full amount, no problem.Comet have this monitor for sale there at the moment:http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/374_223956.htmlAcer AL 1714ms 17"TFT 14ms response time, £200, nice silver surround.....and that's what I'm looking at now :D

bvw
No doubt P :D With monitors I like to see them first as they are part of the furniture I guess :)
Boris
Damo or Boris will probably find you; it cheaper :o:lol: £194.98 is the Comet web price (free "standard" delivery) - that is the cheapest price I can find for it in the UK. Their store price is £199.
bvw
Thank you Boris :) I had checked before going to the store, also checked their stock levels last night and did a bit of research first :D I wanted a new monitor, well I had to really....the old CRT has given years of faithful service and is still going strong, a good back up, but she's old, fat and ugly now.......and I wanted to come away from Comet solving 2 problems at once. It's a fiver more expensive than a web order......but I was £100 up on the deal anyway :D The picture quality is superb, no dead pixels....the monitor has in-built speakers as well.....the sound is, without doubt, awful :D

andsome
From past experience with Comet, if you phone and ask whether they have stock and ask the price, then tell them you can get it sheaper on line, they will match the price.Seems a damned good buy.I take it that the speaker sound can be switched off in favour of your existing speakers. bvw
Yes, andsome. You only use the monitor's speakers if you want to, no need to connect them really if you already have good speakers. :)
