Scarecrow Man
I'd doing an assignment on the following article. http://www.computerworld.com/news/2004/sto...0,94015,00.htmlThis is to be done in essay form 700-1000 words and is an opinion piece.Just wanted to get everyone elses opinions. :DThe questions are;Was pilot fish ethical in simply resigning instead of fighting to makesure the problem was well understood? (Discuss in terms of his responsibility to the company, his co-workers and the company’s customers and shareholders)How should pilot fish have dealt with the department head’s reprimand? How should the department head have reacted when she noticed fishwriting his email? Was the department head ethical in how she handled the situation?(Discuss in terms of due diligence and due care)Does upper management, i.e. at the CEO or vice president level, shareany blame? nellie2
Hmmm.... here goesWas pilot fish ethical in simply resigning instead of fighting to makesure the problem was well understood? (Discuss in terms of his responsibility to the company, his co-workers and the company’s customers and shareholders)It is very difficult to make a point when the bosses won't listen. Perhaps pilot fish should have asked for a face to face meeting with his supervisor and boss to explain the problem and put forward possible solutions, instead of comunicating by email. If that request had fallen on deaf ears then what more could he have done? Responsibility... you can only achieve what your bosses allow you to achieve. How should pilot fish have dealt with the department head’s reprimand?See above... ask for a meeting and explain how important this was.Was the department head ethical in how she handled the situation?(Discuss in terms of due diligence and due care)Pilot fish was obviously given the postition because he knew about computers, the dept head should have asked more questions instead of dismissing what he was doing out of hand.Does upper management, i.e. at the CEO or vice president level, shareany blame?Definitley... how a company is run and the priorities come from that level, the buck stops with them.
