Gandalph Posted December 5, 2004 Report Share Posted December 5, 2004 Hi Gang,I recently had a HDD go down so I have replaced it and set up Windows and re-installed all Program's Files etc., The problem is I can't get the Monitor back to the recommended resolution of 1280 x 1024. I keep trying to alter it and the best I can get it to display is 1024 x 768 and when I click on apply I keep getting a message saying ' Warning! Video resolution out of range change settings to 1280 x 1024 '. I've been on for about three hours this afternoon trying this and that but nothing I have checked or done can get the resolution to what it should be. It was working fine before this HDD went down.Any help with this would be appreciated.System details.Aopen AX6BC motherboard, Pentium 3 600 MHz. 639 Mb Ram.I will check back later with you. It's the same one as I used on the old HDD and there's nothing newer on their site. That's why I'm puzzled as to why it shouldn't work. It worked OK in the past and changing a hard drive shouldn't make any difference.I had wondered if it could be the AGP card but I've ruled that out because its working in so much as it is allowing some settings.Thanks for your reply marra. :D Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have a sneaking fancy the Graphics Card may be on the way out. Its an ATI 3D rage and it's about five years old. Thanks for your input. It looks like I'll be making a visit to our local Guru tomorrow for a new graphics card. The best I can get out of this one is 1024 x 768 no matter what I try. Cheers for now. I took a card out of my old machine and as soon as I installed it into this one I got it into the resolution the monitor wanted 1280 x 1024, no problem.Many thanks for all your input.
