[Resolved] Setting BG Color on Icons

Right that is what I thought, but for some reason when I select a color it does not apply it to the icon, unless I have not selected an image for the background, but then what good is that? Here is a screen shot that shows what I am talking about (the bg color is set to a greenish color, but it does not appear behind the text)

TweakUI, perhaps? Google shows a number of little apps that can make desktop text background transparent, so there must be a way to remove it.

By default the BG is desktop color, as Scarecrow Man says. You must have somehow tweaked into transparent.

Right click "My Computer" Icon, choose properties/advanced tab/and click on the settings button under "Performance" (Top one). Performance options window will open. click on the "Visual effects" tab and scroll down to the bottom, remove the tick from "Use drop shadows for Icon labels on the desktop" Click on apply, you will now have a rectangular box with a background colour.

Click OK then exit. Right click on your desktop/properties and choose the background colour for the boxes from there as normal. :)
