-pops-
There are some references to this error being connected with an over-full temp directory. Try a disc cleanup and emptying all temp files.

n1ghts
o btw I tried with another program installer, it appears I couldnt write .exe in my temp folder as Windows always do that when users want to install any program with .exe extension.....I wish every program provides full installed program as alternative to installer....Any idea to solve this issue? Thanks
Guest be@vis
It could be a problem with Windows Installer. Try updating it, or re-installing from your XP disc.

Guest be@vis
If it's the Windows Installer you want to re-install. It's in the i386 folder. It's called MSIEXEC.EX_Copy it to the desktop.Expand it with Winzip, or any zip utility.Move it to C:\Windows\System32.Make sure it's enabled in the services tab. n1ghts
and before I re-install it, dont you think it is strange that I can install .exe in safe mode but not in normal mode? beavis..what do you mean by expanding it using zip utility?and what do u mean by enabled in services tab? Thanks
Guest be@vis
The file on the XP cd is in a compressed state, as evidenced by the .EX_, and needs to be expanded in a zip utility in order for it to work. You need to go into Services Scroll down to Windows Installer.Right click on it.Choose Properties. In the Startup Type box choose Automatic and make sure you start the service.
