doug
Was advised to rest and have been lent 5 Star Wars DVDs Now haven't used DVD player for a long time. Tried to play one last night and it don't work! Won't even play an audio CD so need some help here.Running Win XP Pro. Athlon Thunderbird, 512 RAM, A CD-RW as drive G: and this LG DVD-ROM DRD-840B Player. There are no problems showing in device manager.I open my comp to watch whats happening insert a DVD and after a while the green light on the front of the panel stops flashing and the orange one next to lights up. The cursor on the desktop changes to the hour glass and everything freezes until I eject The disk. Ditto if I insert an audio CD. Have loaded PowerDVD Ver 2.5 with no improvement. Tried refreshing the driver with no luck.Gonna get a bit bored folks as my arm aches if i spend too long at the key board and trying to use the mouse with left hand is worse than any of those co-ordination exercises. doug
What do you mean?
scuzzman
I think there may be a problem with the DVD player itself, and you may want to try replacing it to see if that solves the problem. You'll want to wait for a second opinion though, as I'm not that experienced with DVD anything.
doug
OK. Sorry for the delay. Am trying to print off a birthday card for G'daughter for today it's her 9th birthday and haven't had time to get her a card. Printer cartridges have run out and am trying to do a re-fill. - messy

Scarecrow Man
Try this.Start > Run > regeditnavigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and check to see if there is a "LowerFilters" or "UpperFilters". If there is, delete them and restart.REMEMBER TO MAKE A BACKUP FIRST!
