homecomputeraid
Do you mean sounds come out of your PC (a click sound followed by a beep)?

djohn
Does this happen once a week only or at regular times when your using your PC?
tripmix
It's not regular just once in a vile. I hardly ever use my win it just stands there doing nothing, I don't think it has ever happens when I'm using it. It sounds like it's coming from my hardware.BTW: way dos it say win 3.1 in the corner when I selected linux <_< you sly..........
djohn
First of all let me welcome you to the forum tripmix. :)No, we're not trying to trick you with the windows 3.1 that you see under your name. This is the method we use for grading a members post at windowsforum. The more post you make the higher your grading will go, at the moment it is 3.1 but will change to win 95 - 98 - ME then to XP as you make more postings.Regarding your question of the clicking and beep sound. You say you don't use your PC a lot but do you leave it turned on all the time and can you tell where the sound is coming from, is it from the tower unit or through the speakers? tripmix
It comes from inside the box. I don't use it a lot cuz I have a linux one to that I use mostly. The win box just stands there downloading stuff.Edit: And I know beeps are usaly error messages from the motherboard, but nothing bad happens or anything. ps: how do I type (usaly), I'm Norwegian. And thanks for the warm welcome.

All that matters is that we can read your post and help you with any Computer problems you may have. Most of the members use Microsoft Windows as their operating system but some also use Linux and are very proficient in the use of it :)
-pops-
I had a machine that did something similar the this.It had two or three (I can't remember which) hard drives and the auxiliary ones were set to power down after five hours of not being used. For some reason, which I never found out, at the five hour point the drive would switch off with an audible click the case speaker would give a beep and the drive powered up again. I cured it by setting the drives to "never switch off".Of course, if I was using the drives the click and beep didn't happen but it was always something of a surprise to hear this.
