trackrat Posted December 26, 2004 Report Share Posted December 26, 2004 As my old music center died it went down the tip, I have now purchased a record deck with a pre-amp fitted.I hooked it up to my computer and it played allright.What I need to know is if I buy a pair of speakers and plug them in to the record deck will they work or do I need an amplifier unit. andsome Posted December 27, 2004 Report Share Posted December 27, 2004 A pre amp is there to do what it says, that is to pre amplify the sound before inputting into the main amplifier. This is a standard level for "line in" type inputs.If you buy the computer type powered speakers (the ones with their own power supply) they should work with a 1V signal as their input.Conventional Hi-Fi type speakers will not work on this setup without a power amplifier.
