There is of course NO defence against natural disasters. This what makes it all the more unbelievable just what some people in this world get up to, causing man/woman made disasters. It's time we came to our senses. I too feel so utterly helpless seeing the scenes on TV.

[ We apologise if the website is slow. If you would like to make a donation please keep trying. ]

The British Red Cross has launched an emergency appeal in response to the widespread flooding caused by a massive earthquake off the coast of Sumatra.

A few clicks later and my donation was made.....every bit helps.

When I saw this on the news (the first death toll I saw was 11,000), I was shocked that so many people could die from a Tidal Wave when I knew technology is in place to warn people!

I mourn the loss of all those who died or lost loved ones.

I hope there's a rapid world wide Tidal Wave Warning System set up as a result of this! :wallbash: There were many hours from the time of the quake during which a warning could have been given for the countries that suffered huge losses.

Couldn't agree more. The problem is getting governments to co-operate. One government wouldn't want to finance such a scheme if others did not pay their share. Most governments would much prefer to waste their peoples money.

Personally I think the TV has provided more than enough pictures. I cannot see why a website would want to post such things. Just my own personal opinion of course, but it's not as though they are trying to raise money to help, at least it does not appear to me to be the case. Correct me if I am wrong.
