trackrat
OS is XP home.A friend at work was loading some software and it started deleting files of his hard drive, he could not stop the program so he just turned his computer off. When he rebooted the OS would not load.As it came pre-loaded i loaned him my XP disk so he could access the recovery console to try and repair the damage. He followed the user guide by Powerless for the recovery console and now it boots to the splash screen ( where the green/blue line goes across ) then the screen goes black instead of loading windows.Has anyone any ideas on what could be causing this. scuzzman
Just remember that he'll need to use his own CD-KEY - it might be attached to the side of the computer.
trackrat
Well Nell the repair install using my disk did the trick. The only problem that could arise is that he used my CD-Key when asked too re-register, but he said he had no problems registering. So I hope nothing happens to mine causing me to re-register.
