innu
I have read in many places ,that I can freely delete C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder ,and it is just some unnessesery/tempererry files. but I am asking ,can I do that ,without couseing any trouble ,or deleting anything important ,?It is 587Mb large. I am asking ,becouse ,when I search google or any other places ,I can find many people with trouble with viruses in this folder ,so why there would be a virus ,when this folder is completly unnesseserry?Or can u suggest any more tips ,how to free up hard drive?I have Windows XP pro SP2
nellie2
That is entirely up to you, you can clean up after SP2 install if you are happy with it, I have no experience of deleting this folder but then I'm not short on space. There seems to be a good explanation hereCrap Cleaner is good for getting rid of a load of rubbish from your PC but make sure you configure it first... otherwise you may find yourself cleaning off cookies that you want to keep. slooksterpsv
Hey, if you don't have an Anti-Virus scanner than I suggest Avast! Anti-virus, google it or I think the website is http://www.avast.com Go there and download it, best of all its FREE!

slooksterpsv
The only problem with AVG is you have to scan your whole hard drive in order to delete a virus whereas if Avast finds it, you can delete it right on the spot. Also with Avast you can scan just a single folder if you want by right clicking then clicking Scan Folder.

innu
AVG isn't so good. I was using AVG about a year, It did its work ,but it haven´t detected all the viruses. One time ,it didn't find one very nasty virus ( gayporn virus  ) ,allthrougth I had latest virus definitions. And ,usually AVG didnt detecct viruses just when u activate them ,It tells that is virus ,only if u scan it first , and when It finds virus ,it didnt block it automaticly ,the virus can make harm ,same time you are deleting it.Now I am using NOD32 ,and it is really good. But it is not free...
