After recent disk crash I had installed Windows office 2000 and then installed Access97 from the Office 97 disk with the licence code provided. Installation went without a problem. But cannot start the Access97. Recieves the message: " Microsft Access cannot start because there is no licence for it on this system". Can someone help? -pops- Posted January 24, 2005 Report Share Posted January 24, 2005 Are you installing Access and not the other programs of the Office disk? This may be the problem. I remember trying to install an early version MS Office without Word* and it wouldn't accept it. It may be similar.* This was in the days of 1GB hard drive being about the largest you could get so disc space was limited. Read the article for more information.Very Close Scuzzman, but I think the actual solution is to be found Click Here The tool on the link you provided is for Win98, and harsha is using Win2K.This is a known Office problem, and caused me a few headaches when Office2k first came out, so I can guarantee the solution in my link works. The only issue is with both versions of Access on the pc, it remembers which version was last used, so if you had Access2000 running and then double click an Access97 mdb, it will automatically start in Access2000 and vice-versa. The solution is to open the actual program version you require, and then open the relevant mdb file.I kept promising myself I would write a macro to attach to .mdb files so I would be offered the choice whenever I double clicked on one, but I never got round to it. :( :P Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
