powercat7 Posted January 24, 2005 Report Share Posted January 24, 2005 I am trying to find an inexpensive version of windows xp home upgrade. A local store had it for $75.00 but I was too late. I have found upgrades @ 84-99 on line, but found full versions @ 65.00 on itechwholesale.com.Problem is that it states that the software is the full version and will not function as an upgrade. What does this really mean? Do I have to reformat my harddrive prior to installing? I would prefer not to have to do this.Any suggestions? If you're planning on upgrading your OS (especially from a DOS-based, FAT32 system such as Win[98,98se,Me]) it's better to reformat/reinstall - sorry, just the nature of the beast.If this is absolutely impossible, an upgrade is possible, and will function the same, until you need to reinstall it anyway. Kirk Posted January 26, 2005 Report Share Posted January 26, 2005 go to newegg.com buy a cheapo power connector for 1.69 and you can get a full oem ver. of xp home with sp2 intergrated for 91 bucks. i did and so far no major horror stories unlike the seperate sp2 install stories i have heard.
