Bluecow
I've got 2 drives one spins at 7200 the other I think at 5400. the fastest one is set as master and the 5400 is slave with nowt on it, they are on the same cable. Will I get a speed increase by removing it???I'm sure I read somewhere that if you mix speeds it goes at the slowest speed or am I talking aload of rubbish :)ta

expertec
One hard drive can't make the other one spin slower. If the transfer speeds are different, they will both run at the lower speed. (For instance a 133MBps and a 100MBps drive on the same cable will both run at 100.)

expertec
Run a program like Everest, check your drive's make/model, do the same for the mobo, and look for them on the internet.
