sam8988378
Hi, I'm new here. After replying to the verifying email, I was directed to the sign in screen, & did. I tried to do a forum search, and after submitting, a screen appeared. It informed me that I was not signed in, and presented the sign in/password area. Even though the top right corner said I was logged in, I decided to humor the screen :flowers: and fill it in anyway. It would not be humored! Once the re-sign in was submitted, I had the forums screen in front of me. Again I tried to search, and again I was directed to sign in! I even signed out, then signed in again - no difference! sam8988378
After posting this, I clicked on "mark this post, and again was told that I wasn't signed in. That same screen appeared : (
scuzzman
Have you tried clearing the browser cache/cookies and trying it again... I haven't heard of this happening...
andsome
WELCOME to WF.Have you tried it again after a re-boot? One problem I get is that if I sign out, I need to log on at the next visit, whereas, if I just close the browser without logging off, I am remembered and logged automatically on the next visit. scuzzman
There might actually be a problem with the search for some members... take a look here. Though, that said, I've tried a couple of time and haven't witnessed it.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
... I've tried a couple of time and haven't witnessed it.As I noted here, it only occurs if you use multiple words in a search. Have you tried that?
scuzzman
Yes, even ran your search query, but I was able to see it...
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Did some more testing, and I believe now that if results were found, they are correctly returned. No results found -> login screen.Test this:"review centre meaningless" -> login screen"review centre powerless" -> search results
expertec
There is a bug in this skin so any error messages are not displayed, you get taken back to the login screen.
scuzzman
That's be it then. Words entered into the search must be longer than 4 letters long, or it errors out. In the XP skin, it must be triggering this bug (I use the IPB skin - find it more pleasing on the eyes).
andsome
Just done some tests myself. The whole search business seems weird to say the least. For some reason if the search request contains any words with less than four characters, it will not take place. It is not possible therefore to search for as an example, "difficulties in logging on". This seems peculiar.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
OK, changed skins, and it's a bit better. But as others have discovered here, short words (e.g. "Recycle Bin corrupt") results in an error message. But still better than the login prompt screen with the XP skin.
