I was an affectation, mainly showing that knitting wasn't exclusively a girl's skill.The group had an exhibition of their work and some of it was very impressive. A couple of days ago I taught her how to do caulking, a friend had an old fashioned wooden cotton reel. She absolutely loves it and has already done over a yard. I bet those people charge the earth for that. The cotton reel as I said was free. I don't do French knitting, they've stolen that idea from English caulking/corking. don't ask Posted February 17, 2005 Report Share Posted February 17, 2005 Coo - I remember french knitting. Like you artist I stopped knitting for the kids when home made stuff went out the window. Last thing I did was my first attempt at Fair Isle and I was so proud of it - even managed to do the best I had ever done with the stitching up of the gament. Never new what it was called :D Used to do it for hours and make up all sorts of things.I love to knit but can no longer do it because of the disability :( I may try crochet to see if I can handle that as I can do it in smaller pieces.My ex's 11 year old son wanted me to teach him to knit.
