artist
I got an email from a friend in MIME format. Went searching to see if I could find out how to get rid of it and couldn't see anything. Anyone know a solution?

Don't quite understand. If you want to get rid of it, can't you just delete it? Or am I missing the point?
artist
Yes I can delete the email - I was thinking of getting rid of it for her.....It need to be uninstalled or something?
scuzzman
MIME format is actually just a format for email, and cannot be uninstalled. Here:Multipurpose Internet Mail Extension, a standard system for identifying the type of data contained in a file based on its extension. MIME is an Internet protocol that allows you to send binary files across the Internet as attachments to e-mail messages. This includes graphics, photos, sound and video files, and formatted text documents. My suggestion would be to reconfigure her email client to accept and send text only mail, and this should remedy this situation. artist
That made me think.Found it under options - send - plain text. There's a box there to tick to 'unencode'Thanks. :)
scuzzman
It should actually be UUencode not UNencode...That's the encoding type for MIME.Just a bit of additional information, MIME types are also used inherently in all systems to associate file extensions with the programs that operate them. scuzzman
UUEncode: Unix to Unix Encoding. A method for converting files from Binary to ASCII so that they can be sent across the Internet via e-mail.
