Badger Posted April 11, 2005 Report Share Posted April 11, 2005 I have a small problem with XP's Disk Cleanup.When I run this I am told,amongst other things, that I have 6864KB that can be removed from the "WebClient/publisher Temporary files" However,when I run the cleanup this remains.(I think it is growing)I have tried to find these files using search etc but with no avail.I was given to understand the they were contained in the Index dat. files. I have used Crap Cleaner and ticked delete this file/folder. But that does not get rid of them.Can anyone shed any light and help me get rid of these files. Bring up the Window and click onto OPTIONS/COOKIES, and drag cookies from sites that you want to keep, for instance this one, from the left window to the right, or otherwise you will have to keep logging on. I know there is a way of fixing it but I just can't be bothered to mess about doing that when I can use CCleaner.It was andsome that put me on to this magical little program and, like him, I use it very regularly to keep my machines free of rubbish and speeding along like a dream. Nothing like 6864KB.I do not suppose it is all that important,I just cannot understand it.Thanks for your help anyway. As I said,I guess I shall just have to live with it. Thanks again. I have done as suggested and deleted the webclient service.(I have never published anything on the web so do not know where 6,000+KB of files came from) Anyway they have now GONE.Why couldn't I, have found that instead of bothering you. nellie2 Posted April 13, 2005 Report Share Posted April 13, 2005 CCleaner is an excellent program... but it does do a lot and can take a bit of configuring... for that reason I recomend Steve Gould's Cleanup when doing hijackthis logs. Hijack victims just want their PC's back and are unlikely to take the time to configure a program, they'll just run it.
