Not a Problem As Such- Scanner Advice

I want to by a new scanner, and I need advice, I have two scanners in mind but I am confused about the interplated resolution, all I need to no really is, if the interpolated resolution is higher, does is it make the scanner better?

The two scanners I have in mind, have different optical and interpolated resolutions and I'd like to know which is the best;

1st Scanner: Optical Resolution: 600x1200dpi

Interpolated Resolution: 9600x9600dpi,

2nd Scanner: Optical Resolution: 1200x4800dpi

Interpolated Resolution: 19200x19200dpi

I would like to know which scanner is the best and which I should Purchase.

The quick answer is - the more dpi the better

As has been said but, don't be misled by "interpolation" This means, effectively, that the machine gives the visual impression that the scan is done to that resolution when, in fact, it is done only to optical resolution.

Not to worry though, the optical resolutions of both scanners are more than adequate for most uses, unless you are scanning 35mm slides for huge enlargements or suchlike :) .
