Printing web page problem

I have a couple of web sites that I would like to make hard copy prints off.

Unfortunately - although it looks fine on the screen - there is about one inch of text missing from the right hand side of the page when I try to print it out.

I can print it in landscape format - but then some pictures are split across pages.

Is there anything I can do - or is it simply bad web page design?

I'm not sure about that one Alan... I've just looked at my printer settings and I don't have an option to resize the page I want to print.. ie make it fit. But perhaps other printer software does. :blink:

Edit > Select All

Open Microsoft Word (or equivalent text editor) and Edit > Paste.

This should at least give you the option to expand or shrink borders to make it fit a bit better.

Thanks for the info - I had already tried the copy and paste trick into Word but it does not entirely solve the problem.

One of the web pages I have problems with is This one

which includes a floor plan which Word refuses to shrink. I managed to get a print by reducing margins to only 0.2" but this is not a satisfactory option. I eventually took a screen capture and pasted this into a graphics programme to reduce its size.

I am fairly sure it is poor webpage design and was looking for a way around it - not necessarily in this particular case - but it is a problem I come up against occasionally and my curiousity to find a solution at last overcame me.

Not my area of expertise Alan, but have you tried right clicking the floor plan and pasting it into Paint or something, saving the file, then putting it into your word doc which contains the copied text?

Now click on file>print and click on the "Selection" and then click print

I got the floor plan into word by just selecting the floor plan copying it and pasteing

Have you tried this free magic software, maybe you can capture the screen and print it out. I just tried and it printed a google page ok.

Just been playing with the freebie program, you can resize it in the screenshot. ;) ;)

Quite a few web pages are like this Alan, its to do with the way pages are laid out to suite pixel size rather than DPI [ Dots per inch] of your printer.

One thing to try is print options and instead of setting the paper margins from the edge of the paper as they are by default, set them to "From edge of text" and lower the margins left and right as far as your printer will allow.

This way the measurements should be taken from the edge of the text on show and print the right-hand edge of the page.

Also use word or similar and from print options use "Scale to fit", again this should do the trick for you. I'm lucky in that my Canon printer places a buton on explorer toolbar to "Scale to fit" for all web pages. I think the application below will do the same thing.
