The hard drive is partitioned as 'C' > 5GB and 'D' > 55GB.'C' is full, by that I mean that it is showing as 5.06GB, no free space at all. Yesterday even AOL refused to start because of this. After dumping a few bits that were not doing anything anyhow I managed to free up about .10GB.'D', labeled as 'Store' is almost empty.I've got Partition Magic, but haven't worked out how to use it yet, but wondered if there may be an easier way. He is running XP Pro, with SP2. Could I use the 'Move this file' facility to move programmes from 'C' to 'D' ? Perhaps afterwards renaming the drives, i.e. changing C to D and vice versa, by doing so leaving the OS on the new 5GB 'D' only. Would it affect his ability to play some of his games, most of which are of the on-line version?Please keep any explanations/suggestions as simple as possible, this is the first time I have come across this type of problem and I really haven't a clue how to cure it. :ninja: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Unfortunately, according to the manual, partitions cannot be merged if one of them contain the OS. So it looks as though its back to square one, unless someone knows better. Do not merge partitions that contain operating systems < That could just as easily mean if there is an operating system on each partition, obviously they would clash. r4may Posted April 18, 2005 Report Share Posted April 18, 2005 Try using Resize in Partition Magic.First make Partition D Smaller Say 20Gband then make Partition C Larger, use all that re claimed from DThen action the requests which will reboot and run Partition Magic script and then it will reboot. this should give you C: of about 30Gb and D about 20Gb.
