Install

Install was easy. Just download the zip file, and extract it to wherever you wish the program to run from. There is no install, just pick your default language and go. The files are extracted and run directly from where they are extracted to. I recommend C:\Program Files\ or C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\

You may be asked for your Microsoft Office CD. Don't worry. I think the program can automatically interface itself into Outlook, and gather contact information. I canceled this process, so I am not sure what happens if you let it finish. I had no problems because of canceling it. I did not have any data in outlook anyways.

Running

It may take a while to set up contact lists, and other important information, but if you run the program daily, and use it to plan all your events, you will find yourself more and more attached to it. It can organize your life into a neat package, and keep you alert as things are more important.

You have many custom options when defining new tasks.

post-1058-1115183029_thumb.jpg

You can set;

Start/End time, Duration, Priority, Category (business, personal etc) the test included in the task, as well as reminders before or during the task. You can also set it to repeat for a set amount of time, and set the expiration of the repetition.

Why do I (or you) need it?

I always feel that a piece of paper, a pen and my memory are a great way to organize my life. Unfortunately, with the increase of customer requests, and my brain only able to handle so many, I was looking for a solution. A free ware solution. And I found it with EssentialPIM.

I use Outlook syched to PPC. EPIM imported contacts, diary events seamlessly without interfering with Outlook.

The look of EPIM is more like Pocket Informant (PIM) on my PPC than Outlook on desktop. It will make a very nice combination with PPC if it's capable of being synched, and I suspect that this might be in the mindset of the developers.

A nice package, intuitive and easy to use.

What more could you ask for from a freebie?
