a² log-in trouble & spyware cookie query

I know that I don't post there very often and it is hardly surprising when I keep having this same log-in problem, as this has happened a few times before :angry:

Has anyone else also had the same problem as me, and that is that I entered what I thought was my password into the a² confirmation box but it was rejected.

I selected the 'I forgot my password' option but I am still waiting for the confirmation e-mail containing the new password as it still hasn't arrived.

I have checked my AOL SPAM folder by the way and there is nothing there either!

As it is impossible to post on the dedicated a² forum, I hope it is okay to ask my query over here instead?

I ran the a² scanner and for the first time it came up with 7 spyware cookies as shown in my screenshot.

When I first saw the Malware files: 7 info on screen, I was a bit horrified until the end of the scan when the spyware cookies definition came up, as I don't class spyware cookies as that bad!

The point of my post is that as a² is a trojan scanner, how is it now picking up spyware cookies?

The only Trojan it has ever detected was a keylog briss trojan around 6 months ago, so I was wondering if anyone knows if when the 12 month subscription is up whether I could revert back to the FREE version?

Yes you are of course right, but I am sticking with my CurlyWhirly username and if I have to change it in order to post then I simply won't post.

It's not my fault if they have a daft registration and/or log-in system! :D

Update:

I have just discovered that the reason why I couldn't log on to the a² forum was because AOL blocked the entire domain.

This was because AOL members mistakenly clicked on the 'Report SPAM' button instead of unsubscribing from the a² newsletter which then meant that the people who didn't wish to receive any e-mail communication spoiled it for everyone else including me.

Below are 2 quotes from the a² Administration team:

Could you please contact the AOL support and tell them that they should please unlock all emsisoft.com domains?

They are blocking our servers from time to time because we are sending many newsletter emails to AOL customers and some (stupid) users always classify them as spam.

Our newsletter is not spam and it respects all US and EU spam laws.

And now their newsletter e-mail policy has changed:

To avoid being blocked again we removed all @aol.com email addresses from the old newsletter subscriber list. But all aol users can manually subscribe to the newsletter in the Control Center again.

Additionally we created a double opt-in mechanism to subscribe. That means that new subscribers will get an email including a link to confirm the newsletter subscription.

So from now on nobody can say that he got unwanted email from our servers.

So I take it back as the a² log-in system wasn't daft after all. :D

p.s. I am now able to log in and receive e-mails again so it all worked out in the end!
