Problem uploading new avatar

Recommended Posts

I have recently fancied having a change of avatar and as there is a maximum pixel size of 90 x 90 pixels allowed on the forum, I have downsized my avatar to 80 x 80 pixels with a resulting file size decrease from 12.9 kb to 7.17 kb which is well below the maximum file size allowed of 50 kb.

It is a .JPEG file by the way.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with the site's avatar engine and if not then at least I know that the fault is at my end and not the forum

Thanks.

Your avatar must be no bigger than 90 pixels by 90 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 50 KB.

The following file types are allowed: gif, jpg, jpeg, png, swf

Seems like you've met the requirements. Can you post your avatar in this topic? I may be able to edit it for you.

This is the avatar that I would like.

I know that it's a trademark of Microsoft but I got it from a free avatar library so I assume it's okay to use on a public forum like this one?

Thanks Scarecrow Man :flowers:

Edit: Removed attachment for legal reasons!

Umm.. That is your current avatar.

That is a trademark of Microsoft, and can probably not be used on a forum. I will look into this.

EDIT: Apparently Mods cannot edit avatars, just remove them. You will need to contact an Admin or Admin Support about this.

I will look for another one then. Thanks for trying to help!

Would be a good idea... for legal reasons. It's probably fine, but craig cannot afford a lawsuit from Microsoft.

My avatar for example shows the microsoft logo, but it is not the trademarked logo, it is a recreation... basically just 4 squares that look like the logo.

Well, it was there for a while as both Scarecrow Man and myself could see it, that is why I went into your control panel and removed it for you.

Not to worry though Curly. Have a try with somthing else if you wish. :)

I've removed it for you Curly for the time being, just to be on the safe side. If Craig says its OK then we can restore. :)

I understand this and to be honest I couldn't even upload it in the first place anyway hence this thread :D

Your avatar was showing for me (as the WinXP Logo), before DJohn Removed it... Perhaps a problem with your browser?

That's strange because on my PC all was showing was the old avatar in pixellated form

I think you need a moving one Curly, someone on a motorbike to show your interest in them! :)

Yes I agree, the trouble of course is locating them

This would be a good one:

Dirtbike.gif

Yes I agree that it would be a good one but perhaps a little big for an avatar and to be honest it would probably be a little distracting for me while reading a topic.

Thanks for coming up with the suggestion though :flowers:

You should have tried clearing Temporary files... I bet that's what the problem was.
