Tankus
Ive got a shed load of tunes without info (albums genre ...etc) which makes sorting somewhat time consuming .....I don't want to go through near 22gbs of files ..Is there some sort of search that allows it to find the info on-line from markers ....? or does it only work while the CD is being ripped ....? scuzzman
Unless the ID3 tags are in the files, no.If the ID3 tags are, then you need a program such as id3-py that you can incorporate into a shell script to rename or otherwise modify the files. Tankus
I guess it will only work when actually ripping when the lappy is on-line .... I used to use creatives effort before I got the ipod , It would not work after its been ripped ..... I guess the details on the main disk .....Ah well I was just vainly hoping for a button to press and leave the lappy alone for a few hours .... scuzzman
Well, if you're using OSX then this shouldn't be a problem.Download id3-py and run it on one mp3. It should display a list of information. What you'll need to do, is take that information, and though a series of pipes to grep and cut (both GNU utilities you should have preinstalled on the command line) you can tell it to auto-rename the files. Then just run it on the entire directory using something like this:for i in `ls`; do mv $i `script_name $i`; done
