catgate
Line from news item re. Blair/Bush meeting:-Blair has staked his reputation on helping Africa during Britain's presidency of the G8 group of rich nations. It's a bit like someone trying to pawn an empty paper bag. Does he think the world is full of idiots? Has he forgotten the wonderful way he handled N. Ireland, crime, immigration, NHS, etc etc.Rest assured, however, that he and Cherie will have several very pleasant and expensive trips out of it. expertec
I think what he's trying to do is fail in every part of the world. Failed here, Northern Ireland, Europe, the Middle East, and now Africa.

Scarecrow Man
"With the ballot tied at 152 votes each, it fell to Speaker Peter Milliken, a Liberal, to cast the deciding vote in favour of the administration."I don't like politicians wasting time and money on such questionably useful debates. meanwhile, nothing is done to help the economy, employment, etc.On the other hand, I am glad that a general election was avoided by yesterday's vote. I am afraid it would have led to another minority government. The question would have then been, "is this country still governable?" I hope we never get to this point because then again, time, money and energy would be lost on purely political debates.Back on topic............Blair can (or at least) stay right where he is, and keep his big nose out of other countries. He should run (or ruin?) his own before attempting another...
