Scarecrow Man
Before you go buy a new motherboard, check out the new form factor which will be available very soon. According to some companies, Dell, Gateway, they are already starting to manufacturer them into thier systems. The BTX form factor specification gives developers options to balance thermal management, acoustics, system performance, and size in the system form factors and stylish designs that are desired in today's products. The BTX form factor is a clear break from previous ATX form factor layouts and was developed with emerging technologies such as Serial ATA, USB 2.0, and PCI Express*.http://www.formfactors.org/FFDetail.asp?FFID=12&CatID=1http://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspe...ion%20v1.0a.pdf - Interface Specification PDFhttp://www.formfactors.org/developer%5Cspe...n_Guide_1.0.pdf - System Design Guide PDFLooks interesting...http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1876BTX will come in 3 sizes, BTX, Micro BTX and Pico BTX and apparently ATX power supplies and cases will fit a BTX board.

Intratech
Intel® has proposed this new form factor over a year ago, there have been prototype boards as well since it proposal and now there are cases that support the new form factor as well. As for AMD supporting the form factor well that's pretty much up to the motherboard makers since all it requires is a change in the circuit and component layouts using the existing core logic and components. AMD will support it reguardless because as we all well know Intel® has been the determining factor when it comes to proposed changes in the industry and standards... eg PCi-EXpress. ;)
