Compulsory purchase of property already exists. The money paid out on compulsory purchase doesn't necessarily represent the value of the property before the purchase order was made and the market value of the property after the order is almost zero.

It's only a small step from that to seizure with no recompense.

The ruling in the States had to do with private developers, not the government, taking your land/house if it stands in the way of their plans.

The government here has always had the power of eminent domain to seize property (standing in the way of public projects) and offer "reasonable" compensation for it.

This Supreme Court ruling basically rewrote our Constitution.....contrary to their charge of interpretting the Constitution.
