doug Posted July 6, 2005 Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 I'm sure these questions have been answered before. My system now takes a while to start and also seems to be running a bit slow. I'm sure something is doing a scan because every now and again I hear a ping as if something has been completed. What should I do to check what's running and disable the unnecessary? You can also modify the startup through msconfig, but this method is not preferred as it does not remove the regkeys, just disables them. -pops- Posted July 6, 2005 Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 I've used Startup Inspector for a long time now and install it on all the machines I build. I find it very useful for stopping those pesky new programs that think they are vital to be running at every startup when, in fact you only use them once every month or so.Why is it that every program thinks it is so vital that it has to be loaded at every available opportunity?
