zare
Ok, I'm not sure what happened, but my comp will not play any sound. I checked the system settings and it said there is no audio device, even though my speakers were working at one point. I hope someone can help me. Scarecrow Man
Go into your bios, and make sure onboard sound is enabled.
zare
Ok, I checked the BIOS and the Audio was enabled. I didn't see anything about onboard sound, so either I looked in the wrong place, or something is really wrong.

Scarecrow Man
are you plugged into the right port? check volume?Open Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel, click the Audio tab, and make sure SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio is selected. Also, check the volume levels of Master (main control) and Wave are not muted. zare
Well, SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio is enabled, but it says there is no audio device when I was going to check if it was on mute. The speakers are in the right port, and I even tryed to use head phones in another port that was made for them and it didn't work either. Scarecrow Man
Well, SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio is enabled, but it says there is no audio device when I was going to check if it was on mute. There's the problem.Perhaps try re-installing SoundMax drivers? Depending on your computer, you may need to contact the OEM for drivers.http://www.soundmax.com/OEMPartners/index.html

rowdy
I had the same problem of suddenly non finctioning sound, the cause was a windows update for the sound driver. This stopped the on boad chip working. The cure is to use the ' roll back driver ' facility you will find when you click on the sound item in the device manager. If this is the cure, revisit the windows update site and select custom install and when the search is complete you may see an item under hardware to do with sound. click on this then on ' do not show this again' to prevent a reoccurrence.hope this helpsrowdy
