Hi

2 questions. I have a couple of programs running on my computer, which show as a small item floating on my desktop. How do I go through the programs currntly running, and cancel these unwanted programs.

Secondly, and related to the first, how do I remove these programs from the list of programs that run automatically when windows starts.

To stop them running automatically at start up, click start / click run / type msconfig in the dialogue box / click ok / click start up tab / then take the ticks out of the associated boxes by cliking on the box / click apply / click ok / then reboot your computer.

You could use Startup Inspector for Windows to select which programs open on startup. It's safer to use than the msconfig method as there is a GUI and also descriptions and warnings about various actions.

In answer to the first part of your question, try pressing CTRL ALT DELETE. This should bring up the Task Manager and you can highlight and end task for any programs you want to stop.
