I have been chugging along quite merrily with Internet Explorer. Could I download a tabbed browser such as those mentioned above and keep IE, so that I can revert to my familiar one if I don't get along with the new one?

Thos.

You certainly can, in fact it is practically impossible to get rid of IE!

You can have an alternative browser such as Firefox (I recommend FF) as your default, and just use IE on occasion when you need it. (A few sites, such as Windows Update, only work with IE)
