Guest ellas
If the folder is one that you customized using the Customize This Folder Wizard in Windows Explorer or a standard Windows customized folder (e.g., the Fonts folder), you might not be able to remove the read-only attribute or you might receive an error when you try to write a file to the folder. In either scenario, Windows is preventing you from writing to the folder because the OS is using the read-only flag to determine whether the folder is a system folder. To work around this problem so that you can modify a folder's read-only status, you can tell Windows to use the system flag instead of the read-only flag to identify customized folders. To configure Windows to use the system flag, perform the following steps: Start a registry editor (e.g., regedit.exe). Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer subkey. Select New, DWORD Value from the Edit menu. Enter a name of UseSystemForSystemFolders and press Enter. Double-click the new value, set it to 1, and click OK. Close the registry editor. Reboot the machine for the changes to take effect.

Tony
Hi Madboy33I don't know what FTP program you are using, but generally if you want to change the file attributes for the website folders/files you CHMOD them from the ftp program.I use Smart FTP and to do this, you right click the folder/file in question then select Properties/CHMODthen just either enter the correct CHMOD number, or just put ticks in the boxes to what you want.On my XP i have the same as you, all files are read only, i don't know why, but then i also have no problem CHMOD-ing them from the ftp program to allow access. All the bestTony
madboy33
Hi TonyI can access my ftp direct via the internetThe problem is i want some files to be read & Write I use Front Page 2003madboy33
Tony
Ok Download Smart FTP Give it all your ftp log in details, connect and then change the properties from there (as i mentioned above in my previous post)If Front page is anything like Dreamweaver it has it own ftp client but it is very basic, and you can not CHMOD or change the properties of the folders/files with it. (i do use the DW one for file uploads and such, but for instance i used smart ftp to upload and install my forum software)Let me know if you need any more help, But i am no expert :) All the bestTony
