Hi-

i am a my wits end with Error 1606.Could not access network location%USERPROFILE%Favorites,it seems to bring up an installer most times to try and install CDBurnerXP Pro3,but i do not have this program anymore,i deleted it completely!,this error message came up even when i had CDB installed one day-but inever used the program?

I get this error message come up if i run certain programs e.g SPYWAREGUARD/SPYWARE BLASTER/REGISTRY MECHANIC/INTERNET CLEANUP(ONTRACK) and also if i try to load ceratin programs from CD also if i try to update a program like today i tried to update ADOBE from v7.0 to version 7.5 but was unable to as i got the damn message again- Error 1606.Could not access network location%USERPROFILE%Favorites.

Most other programs run fine and open up fine and update fine even windows update is ok?.

I have Uninstalled the programs that seem to have given these error messages and used reglite to remove all instances from the registry and then re-installed them again-same problem?.

Tried google and microsofts error 1606 knowledge base still no good, tried everything i can find on the net to remedy this annoying problem myself, now i am at at losss and have come up against a brick wall,i hope someone who is capable and has come up aginst this problem before can help find a remedy to this problem,i am enclosing a screen shots as example.

I have XP SP2 with all updates, done virus check, trojan and spyware checks,de-frag,disc error check, has maybe the windows installer become corrupt?,i can run and load most programs ok from desktop or START ALL PROGRAMS,but not certain ones.

Have tried to download same programs again from the original sites like but still get messages come up?.

I assume you had the program installed once. If so, how did you remove it because it appears that it was only partially removed and so is now trying to repair itself?

Try reinstalling the program again and then removing according to the "correct" procedure given in the program or on the website.
