Scan Error

Recommended Posts

On an old scanner I once had this could occur, and on the scanner on-screen control panel was a button to eliminate it. The sad thing is that I can not even remember the name of the scanner let alone what the button was called. (It certainly was not called Wilf)

There are most likely settings on your scanner for compensating for surface finish, quality of original (photo, magazine print, line drawing etc.) and for "descreening" i.e. compensating for a visual aberration produced when the matrix forming the picture matches, or is in harmonics with, the scanner illumination.

Try fiddling with one or more of these.

On that note, check to see if the scanner has an updated software package. The CD version that came with it may be outdated.

or try a freeware app for scanning... if there is such a thing? http://sourceforge.net/projects/easyscan/ ?

Just googled this... scroll down to ( Relevant discussion pulled from photo.net ) and click on Pic attachment, it is very similar to your pic, caused by dust on the CCD apparently.

HERE

Ive been told the scanner heard could have been rubbing on the glass...so how much would it be to take the photo down to a kodak shop r something and get a print that way?
