Disk Idle Optimizer 1.0

Defrag your hard drive with your spare CPU cycles! Using the built in disk defragger in Windows XP (SP2 Required), this program senses when your computer is at an idle state and defrags your hard drive. As soon as you begin using your computer again, Disk Idle Optimizer will stop defragging, allowing you to use your PC to its fullest.

This program is considered freeware.

Requires Windows XP with SP2

File size = approximately 700 Kb

Sorry - don't use the standard Windows defragmenter - I use Raxco Perfect Disk

Please note : This bit of freeware is only really designed for people who use the in-built Windows defragmenter

If you have a dedicated 3rd party application like PerfectDisk, Diskeeper, O&O Defrag etc. it will do nothing for you.

Thanks. I have downloaded it, though I cannot see a lot of benefit. I defrag every week or so and this DiskIdleOptimiser says that it is not a substitute for regular, weekly defragging.

Thos.

My Diskeeper is great. I never need to select defrag, the program sits there and cuts in and defrags by itself whenever there is the slightest fragmentation. It looks after two hard drives for me, and the only indication that it is working at any one time is when the little icon appears at the bottom right of the screen. Of particular benefit is the Boot Time defrag mode, that I use about once per month. It defrags all the boot files, and speeds up the computer no end. the difference is very obvious.
