catgate
I am not sure if this is a software fault or a hardware fault. Very often, when I try to read/send emails using OE, I get the attached screen/message. Sometimes ( until very recently every time) all is peace and joy. If I fire up IE and then go to my mail through that again all is peace and joy. Even immediately after getting the message I can go on to IE and get through. To my simple mind the fact that it will sometimes work suggests that the settings are OK. I am on BB but I still have the old winmodem card in. (thats a bit silly...it has worked Ok for a few months with that in.)Has anyone anty bright ideas, please?edit:- I have just discovered that If I clear the error message box (click top right hand corner X) I can send a message. Queer or what?

Snec
Not going to be much help to you I'm afraid except to say a few months ago I suddenly started to have this problem. If you google it, there are 100s of solutions and none of them worked for me. I began to suspect the problem was with my domain server...... and it might have been. Don't know, but after a few weeks the problem stopped as suddenly as it started.

andsome
Probably one of the quirks of your ISP . This morning I was asked repeatedly to enter password etc, the mail just would not come in. I went to NTL's website and had no trouble seeing my mail online. I then tried again and Outlook Express brought the mail in fine. It seems to happen now and again.
Thos
I suspect andsome is right. I used to get that message quite a lot when I was on dial up with Tiscali. But never since I changed to Wanadoo Broadband.Thos.
