Lamb Chop
Now I am more familiar with windows, and have fixed the problem by choosing smaller icons - I would like to find a way of stopping this message as I do not have the problem of too many any more.Hope you understand what I am referring to.Not a real brain as self taught and help from tech sites and forums - so explain in plain english and not comuter speak please. :flowers:
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Sorry, I do not understand what you are trying to convey. "My start page" - what do you mean? Please explain exactly what you are doing, and what is happening then. I'm sure we can find a solution once we understand the problem. Also, what version of Windows? dadyassa
Right click on start, select properties, choice of start menu or classic start menu, click start menu and click properties, on general tab reduce the number of programs in start menu, click OK. -pops-
If I understand correctly, when you go to Start -> All programs, you get the screen overfilled with program names, yes?In this case you need to have the programs as a long list rather than across the screen.Click Start (bottom left) RIGHT click a blank area in the page that appears - you should see a label "properties", click on that and the click on Start Menu, "Customize". Click "Advanced" and scroll down the "Start Menu Items" list and tick the "Scroll programs" button. This will give all your loaded programs in a long vertical list instead of across the screen. There will be an arrow at the top and bottom to enable you to scroll up and down the list.Hope I've understood the problem properly. Let us know how it goes. andsome
What I have doe also is to go to start and right click it, then select OPEN ALL USERS. Double click on Programs. Then say create a new folder and call it Anti Spyware. Drag all the anti Spyware icons into this one. Then in my case I made another folder and called it Office Programs, and dragged all Microsoft office programs into this. I then did this with Epson and so on. This way the number of items in the start menu is greatly reduced. All the main items when you click start in future have a little arrow to the right, and hovering over the listed program offers all the sub folders for selection. I hope that this is clear. Lamb Chop
:flowers: I had thought I had posted a reply but it isnt there so will do another. What I actually want to remove is a ballon with words in it that appears when I put my start page up.It started when I had so many programs that the columns ran out. Then I was somehow, able to get them vertical and small and lots of room left now.Still get the message which ballons across start page hiding the run etc. Nuisance value really.
